Why I Chose to Move to Bali During The Pandemic…
Well, to your surprise you might not know that I never planned on moving to Bali.
In March of 2020, I had just finished traveling Asia for 6 months and was set to move to Australia. However two days before my flight to Australia, the borders shut. I was in India at the time where they were also going into a strict lockdown where I was urged to go back home.
I returned home with the determination that I was going to travel at the first chance I got to continue living my dream of a digital nomad. So after a few months had passed with no hope in sight, my friend randomly messaged me to let me know that Bali had just opened a visa for foreigners to come stay.
Now, I had been to Bali twice already before and was never pulled to go live there. It was a beautiful island but always so crazy busy with tourism that it had turned me off. However, now there was an opportunity to stay in Bali under a whole different circumstance and I decided to give it a go.
Everyone told me I was crazy to move my life during a pandemic but everyone also told me I was crazy to quit my job to go travel but that turned out to be the best decision of my life. So, I applied for my visa and waited. After a week or so, I had an email pop up in my inbox saying “EVISA B211A BALI APPROVED”.
I remember in that moment thinking, “oh my god this is actually going to happen”. A few weeks later, I packed up all of my things again, printed out my booklet of papers to leave the country, and set off for a new adventure.
I had absolutely no idea where this adventure was going to take me either, I had just pivoted to a new business, I was moving during the pandemic, I had no clue what life was really like in Bali at the time and had a lot of hope of reconnecting with fellow digital nomads.
That last reason was the biggest push towards deciding to call Bali my next home. I knew that Bali had a large community of digital nomads, people who understood my dream and were living a similar life. They always say, surround yourself with likeminded people or those who have already accomplished the things you desire to increase your chances of getting there. So, that is exactly what I did.
A tropical paradise where I could spend life in the warm sun, meet people from all over the world, grow personally and professionally and continue living my dream, that was the reason for my new move to Bali.
Bali is a place that will always have a piece of my heart.
